Robert Twomey, Ph.D.

Chief Data Scientist

Professor Twomey’s research focuses on embedded, situated computing and interdisciplinary applications of Data Science and Machine Learning. As an instructor with the Halicioglu Data Science Institute and the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UC San Diego, he teaches courses on Machine Learning and Data Science. Twomey has prior experience in neuroimaging research, experimental game production, and consumer electronics design. He won Best Paper at SIGGRAPH 2017 for his work on light field imaging, and his research has been sponsored by Amazon and NVIDIA. He received his BS from Yale, Masters from UC San Diego, and Ph.D. from the University of Washington.
